Last night I came home late from work because of some stupid critical error in the network. I was so stressed at work that all I wanted to do after was to get in the house and just sleep. Unfortunately, when I arrived home, I realized that I accidentally left the keys inside the house! You could just imagine the feeling. It was 11:30 and I could not think of anyone to help me.

I was so tired then so I just sat on the porch and slept. After a few minutes I heard someone calling me. It was my neighbors Mat and Ellie. They also came home late and noticed that I was lying wasted on my porch. They help me (literally) break into my apartment. Finally, I got my good night’s sleep.

Of course, I was not able to report to work today because I was too tired to get up. I think I’ll just go to the mall and watch a movie to rid myself of the stress AND to look for good door knobs for my door. For now I’ll just enjoy the cool morning and the warm bed. Ahhh…. this is the life…

As I was eating pancakes this morning, my sister and I discussed random things like how to set your priorities, good music, and cheap insurance quotes. This is one of the things that I enjoy doing the most, I guess you could call it one of my simple pleasures.

We talk about the most amazing things during breakfast, and I sure do learn a lot from her. She gives just the best advice for anything.

In exchange for her sound advice, I usually give her good songs to listen to, as I have a wide collection of those and I know which ones are good for a certain mood and feel.

Like what the old saying goes, it’s better to learn from the experience (or mistakes) of others, rather than to commit them your own.

I’d like to disagree though, some of us wouldn’t ever really learn until we experience it ourselves. Being so thick headed is quite normal, as we are human, after all.

Good news! Well at least for me. I just received a call from a friend of mine, offering his landscaping services for just a minimum cost. I actually did not know that he does work like this on top of his office work. He said that he does this mainly as a hobby and of course to pay for the bills.

I emailed him my plan for the garden, things I wanted him to do. I told him about the Bonsai’s that I have already purchased and my plan to use all of them to create a Japanese inspired garden. Of course I told him about the pond which is the highlight of my garden.

For the pond, he told me that my aquarium pump will not suffice because of some technical stuff he told me about which I was not able to understand. Hehe. He suggested another type of air pump which is available from circuit city which already has a filter to keep the pond clean.

In summary, I got all the stuff He needed (just waiting for the pump to be delivered). By Saturday can start landscaping and finally bring to life my dream garden.

I have been doing some window shopping to find some good buys to use for my home renovation. Actually, it’s just my room I’m planning to decorate. I got sick of the old mediocre theme of the room so I am thinking of giving it a modern look. As the old saying goes, “new environments breed new opportunities” ( I have no idea who wrote this).

Anyhow, I found some great deals on roller shades window blinds. I bet the’ll look good on my room. Unfortunately, I forgot to bring the measurements of my windows so I’ll have to go back home to get them. I did ask the salesperson to reserve some for me.

Oh by the way, do you think those industrial themed beds will really serve their purpose? They look all shiny and clean but i need some suggestions. Please let me know what you think. Thanks in advance.

During my 9-day vacation leave, I decided to visit my friend Jehan in Canada. We ended up going to her rest house to enjoy the nature and bask in some peace and quiet. What I really enjoyed most during my stay at her rest house was her amazing bathroom. It has a tub, Jacuzzi, and sauna! I didn’t want to live the place. Also, with Jehan being an artist, everything there was customized, including her tub and spa covers!

Jehan shared that it’s all about knowing the right design-your-own stores and shops. She brought me to all those stores when we went back to the city and believe it or not, the prices in customizing your stuff is not as expensive as you’d think! I’m so excited about my new discovery that I just might renovate my own bathroom and bedroom next month. Tee hee!

For some reason the weather last night was way too cold. I was literally under my bed sheets because of the icy cold breeze. This gave me another idea. Since some parts of the house are being renovated, I’ll suggest to my dad that we add an outdoor fireplace in the garden so that we can have barbecues even in the cold winter. Besides, I don’t know anyone in the neighborhood who has an outdoor fireplace so it’s bragging rights for my mom.

As for our driveway, it turned out perfectly, even better than we expected. The design is credited to me (and to my friend’s architectural magazines). We were so happy with the outcome that we took family pictures in front of it. Hehe.

Halloween is over and Christmas is a few days away. This time of year, lots of home owners are renovating their houses. I guess the new look of the house will give them a more positive outlook in the new year.

In our house, the driveway is being renovated. It has never been altered since the house was constructed so my dad decided to give it an overhaul. I suggested using ceramic tile flooring for that clean and elegant look. I also recommended some designs for the painting. My dad agreed with the tiles because it was a cheap alternative to using marble. So now the construction has already begun and we are all very excited for the outcome. I just hope my designs look as good in the house as they were in the magazines. Hehe.
