What is up with Dads being very picky when it comes to gifts? In our family, Dad is the hardest one to please. We always have a hard time buying him gifts because he has it all. What can we possibly buy that he can’t right? He’s got the money, he’s got the car, he even has a new dog!

My brothers and sisters went from shop to shop looking for that perfect gift for Dad. We looked at the hardware store to get him some power tools but later on realized that Dad is the expert on those, we might buy him a brand he does not like. We tried the department store, but hey, who could possibly know what Dad wants to wear? We remembered Mom gave him a shirt one time, just a shirt, yet I never saw him wear it in public. :) Jewelries, watches or shades will probably please him but we could never afford that. All these window shopping made us hungry…

That’s it!!! We finally realize what Dad would really want. Sweeeeeets!!! So where can you find the best sweets? Online!

So there! We have decided to get the gifts for dad at berries.com. As the saying goes “the way to a man’s heart is through is stomach”.

My sister has been packing up for New York since her application for a green card has now been accepted and her husband already bought tickets. I actually am a little surprised that she decided to pack earlier than the usual since she tends to procrastinate a lot. I guess that’s what going to New York gives you– a sense of change and excitement to do things. I am a little sad that they’ll be leaving us, but happy for them since they get to take the next step and open way more opportunities when they get to the big apple.

I thought of giving them a bunch of box cutters as a going away present since they brought so much stuff with them and I like giving things that would be useful for them. These things would make unpacking ten times easier, I swear, and they’re so cute and nifty to hold!

Do you have any other gift ideas for my sister and her husband? I’d really appreciate it since I’m really out of ideas at this rate and they’re leaving in two days!

My Mom is a great cook. She loved cooking since she was a child, my Granma told me. She always make it a point to impress us with her cooking, not just with the taste but with the presentation.

Today is her birthday. So we decided to give her a cooking party. My dad and I had it all planned out. He bought mom an expensive kitchen utensil set – knives, tongs and Teflon coated pans that my Mom had been dying to have. I bought the meats, vegetables and all the ingredients for tonight’s feast.

The plan is to spend some quality time with mother while cooking. She have not cook for all of us in a while because I have been working and my Dad has been busy with the business. So now, we will have some bonding time with her in an activity she will surely enjoy.

Oh and I bought her some Personal Creations aprons. She loves aprons and I bet she’ll find these aprons cute.

I am just so excited for tonight.

Having a baby is perhaps one of the most exciting events of life. Usually, parents keep this a secret to their loved ones until the perfect time comes. This week, I will be helping a friend of mine prepare the party for their birth announcements.

Birth announcements are fun to prepare. Of course you need to plan ahead. In our case we manage to create a checklist of what we are supposed to do:

  1. list down your invitees
  2. select a theme
  3. select a venue
  4. see if the budget fits
  5. make reservations
  6. create invitations
  7. send invitations
  8. create a program

It is basically just like preparing for a wedding but without the formalities and the stresses. Birth announcements need not have organized programs. Just good food and a nice cozy venue will surely make the party. We are already done with steps 1 to 5. So now we are on the exciting part – creating invitations. It feels like we are in grade school all over again. Right now, I am not only helping her plan for the birth announcements but I am also planning to give her a shower party on the same day she announces it.

Me and my mom are very open with each other. We share our secrets and sometimes even our clothes. Every mother’s day we just go out and have dinner. That is perhaps our template celebration for mother’s day. Usually, simple cards are enough for gifts but this time, I would like to give her something that she always wanted to buy for a long time.

My mother always tells me that she wants to try slimming pills. It is not just for the figure but for her health too. She needs to slim down to lower her blood pressure. I did some research and I came across this product called lipozene diet pill which claims to be effective with little or no side effects. Of course I will have to talk to her doctor about this first if it is safe or not.

Diet pills or any other pills for that matter must always be taken with prescription. Even if they claim to be “natural” you still must consult your physician.

No matter how good you are at shopping, I bet you always have a hard time when buying gifts for special ones right? The thing about gifts is, it is hard to predict if the recipient will appreciate it or not. Cards are sometimes thought of as cheap. Expensive gifts thought of as bribe. So what do you get then?

Personally, I stick to the “it’s the thought that counts” principle. Now, you may ask, how do I let them know about my so called “thoughts”? Simple. Give that special person personalized gifts. I suggested this online store called Personal Creations. They have a huge line of products perfect for every occasion. What’s more is there actually are valid coupon codes at Personal Creations scattered all over the net. You can get huge discounts if you use these coupon codes.

Then if all else fails just write your loved ones a check or wire them some bucks. :)
