A couple of months ago, I set up a twenty gallon freshwater aquarium. At first the fishes were fine until I have decided to add some decorations. First I used the plastic plants but after a few weeks, I noticed that there were algae all over them. Also, they have become too expensive for a small hobby. So I went to some aquarium shops and I bought underwater plants. These plants are ready to be planted so I bought plenty. I heard that plants make healthy fishes so this was one reason why I bought them. However after some time, I noticed that my Neon Tetras started having like bits of salt covering their body.
It was Ich, a common disease among scale less fishes like the Tetra. The solution as I found out was to install a rheem heat pump to increase the temperature to 32 degrees celcius. This will kill the bacteria causing disease. However it was very expensive last time I checked so right now I am still looking for better alternatives…
