Last Monday, fire broke out in our office building’s basement. This part of the building houses the main power supply of the building, which was also where the fire started. Possible arson was suspected by investigators because the electrical system is regularly and strictly maintained. An estimated $100,000 worth of property burned down. Because of that, we were forced to bring out the PC’s and work from home. There’s not much we can do in and office without air-conditioning and electricity. Not to mention no elevators too!

Until now, we still are waiting for the building admin’s confirmation if the power supply is already up and running. Some companies yesterday already managed to work in their offices but my boss suggested that we wait until everything is stable. This is too bad because we were supposed to have a team-building activity and go camping in some rv parks
tomorrow. Oh well, I guess we’ll be working here at home for a while until further notice.

Again, my shop-a-holic instincts were uncontrollable. I can’t believe I already spent half of my midyear bonus after only two days! Last Friday I was looking for new tiles for my kitchen when I saw this beautiful kitchen set on discount. I was planning to get my kitchen renovated but since I instantly fell in love with the displayed kitchen set, I decided to buy it. Yeah, just like that.

It was a good buy actually; I got it for a much lower price than the discounted price (begged for a bigger discount). What I liked about the kitchen is that it is so simple yet easy to maintain and fully functional. The cabinets are made of aluminum instead of the traditional pest breeding plywood. Also, Instead of those hard to clean tiles and grout, it had metal tiles and a stainless steel backsplash. Now I won’t have to worry of staining the kitchen or even burning it. Hmm… I guess I’ll call my friends for a bragging party now!

This happened to me a long time ago, five years ago if i remember it correctly…

I was so stressed in Differential Equations in junior high that I sleep very late at night just to finish my assignments. I felt weaker and weaker until finally, my body gave in. I was in the bathroom, getting ready for school when suddenly I blanked out. I only remember hearing some banging in the door, shouting, asking if I’m alright. When I got up, I was still in shock, yet annoyed by the banging on the doors by my family so I shouted back “HEY IM TAKING A BATH! WHAT’S YOU’RE PROBLEM?!” — not realizing that I fainted and was out for a few seconds. I came to realize what happened when I saw a cut in my forehead. Shocking really.

I consulted a physician immediately after school. It was midterms then so I took the exam first. Worst thing that came to my mind is that I had Epilepsy. Fortunately, it was not. It was though another ailment called “Orthostatic Hypotension”. This is a disorder wherein the blood pressure is too low. I remember being given”ephedrine” to treat that ailment.

It was not very serious, although the fainting could have happen anywhere. I could just imagine what will happen to me if I fainted while running in the stairs. Thank God it didn’t happen.

I shared this experience of mine because this happens to lots of people. Actually, it just happened to an employee early this morning. Anyhow, since I had the same problem as he did, we did not panic. He was later sent home to rest.

At last! I and my friends finalized the date for Lisa’s baby shower. We have been planning this for more than a month now but our schedules could not meet. Lisa’s on her eighth month already so it’s a must to give the shower now (else it’s too late). Everyone agreed to give gifts which are not only cute, but also useful for the baby.

I was so excited to buy the gift that I rushed to the mall after work. I searched the department store but I couldn’t find the perfect gift. Then in this small gift shop, I saw the diaper cake! Yes! It looks like a cake but made of diapers. Hahaha. It was actually a collection of baby stuff like bottles, blankets, bibs and diapers arranged like a three layered cake. It really is a cute gift. I bought two sets, the other one for my 1 year old niece. Sigh. Having a baby really gets the oldies excited.
